North Taranaki Kindergarten, Where Children Grow In Learning. Building Your Child's Future - North Taranaki Kindergarten Association, Ko Te Putahi Kura Puhou o Raro Taranaki

The Association

Ko Te Putahi Kura Puhou o Raro Taranaki

The Association is the parents’ representative body, which establishes, manages and administers all sixteen Kindergartens in North Taranaki. Membership of the Association is open to all parents or primary caregivers who have a child enrolled at a Kindergarten (who is not an employee of the Association) or to any company or person upon making formal application to the Association Manager.

The Association is administered by a Governing Board (similar to a school Board of
Trustees) who are elected annually at the North Taranaki Kindergarten Association’s Annual General Meeting. The Board is made up of no more than seven parent representatives, a Teacher representative and an immediate past Chairperson. Members are usually elected for a two year term.

The Governing Board is responsible for the Governance of the Association, this includes planning for the future, policies and procedures, financial viability and the provision of high quality teaching and learning through the employment of Association Management, Teachers and Support Staff.

The Board employs an Association Manager to oversee the Management of the Association.

The Association Manager is the licencee of the Kindergartens and leads the Management team to administer the Association. They work within the policies and guidelines as set by the Board - working towards achieving strategic goals, managing staff, assisting local volunteer committees and promoting Kindergarten.

The Senior Teachers are responsible for the professional development and professional supervision of teachers, and are responsible for teacher registration. The Senior Teachers as part of their work visit all of the Kindergartens regularly to see Kindergarten programmes in action.

The Financial/Property Manager oversees all the Associations financial (including payroll) and property requirements working closely with the Property Officer and Accounts Administrator.

Office Administrators assist Association Management with reception, word processing, HR, payroll and filing tasks.

The Association Management staff work from the Association Office, Kindergarten House, they can be contacted during office hours, 8.30 am - 5.00 pm, and are available to provide information, support and advice. There are a number of resources available at Kindergarten House, including books and video loans.
