Introducing the Governing Board

There are currently two vacancies on the Governing Board, for more information click here or contact the Association Manager.

Tania Bruhn, Chairperson

My name is Tania Bruhn and I am married to Mark. We have four children (aged 3 to 9 years). Three of our children have attended our local Frankleigh Park kindergarten. I have enjoyed watching the learning, development and confidence that children gain through their interactions with the environment and others at kindergarten.

I believe in the purpose of kindergarten, to provide for the well-being of children and their learning for the future. This is my second year on the board and I look forward to contributing again to this governing board.

Cara Gelston, Board Member

I am a mother to two young boys aged two and half and four.  I also work full-time as an Associate at Billings Lawyers.  I practise predominantly in the field of Family Law.  I lived in the UK for seven years and sat on Governance Boards there for approximately four years.  I am passionate about early childhood education.  I have a personal interest in it.  Appropriate and sound teachers of early childhood education are vital for our future.  I am interested in people and families.  My professional life is focussed around helping families who are going through difficult times. I believe I have the necessary governance skills to assist on the Governing Board.  I would like to give something back to the community.  The NTKA fits in terms of where I am at in my life personally and professionally.

Jeni Gilbert, Teacher Board Member

Kia ora koutou
Ko Jeni Gilbert ahau.

I am delighted to be the Teacher Representative on the Board and my background with the NTKA goes back over 30 years. I have been involved with the Association in a variety of ways; teacher, parent and at management level.
I believe I am a passionate, innovative and committed teacher, who is an advocate for quality education engagements for tamariki and all akonga (learners). I was delighted to be one of the recipients of the NTKA Wind Wand Award – 2010.
I look forward to collaboratively working with the Board to implement its vision and future direction of the Association.

Jacqueline Klever, Board Member

I am a 42 year old mother of three.  My children range in age from 15 to two years.  My daughter  currently attends our local Frankleigh Park Kindergarten.  I am a registered NZ primary school teacher and have 17 years experience in the education sector, four of which include delivering a road safety education programme to Taranaki schools.  I have a keen passion for our little people and the people that teach them.   I strongly believe that any early childhood education needs to be delivered by well trained, enthusiastic people in an environment that encourages care, independence and happiness.  I hope to be part of a supportive group that also encourages these values.

Doni O'Brien, Board Member

I have a beautiful daughter who is three years of age attending Puketapu Kindergarten, and I am currently the secretary of the Puketapu Kindergarten Committee.  I have my NZIM Diploma in Management which I believe some of the papers I achieved like, leadership, organisation and management and business communication etc will be of good use for the Governing Board.   I want to make a positive difference for not only my daughters generation but for more generations to come.  I feel that individuals within our community have helped me grow and achieve great things in my life and it would only be fair to give back to the community, and to our future leaders and teachers.
