Devon Kindergarten is situated on the seaward side of Devon Intermediate School in an attractive outdoor setting surrounded by well-established trees that provide plenty of shade.

 

We offer morning sessions for older children and afternoon sessions for younger children.  Five spaces are available each day (except Wednesday) for the oldest children to attend a longer Kindergarten Day

 

Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri	Kindergarten Day Morning Session	9.00am - 3.15pm 9.00am- 12.00pm
	Afternoon Session	12:45pm - 3:15pm
Wednesday	Morning Session	8:30am - 12:45

• Provide a stimulating child centred inclusive environment where diversity is valued.
• Caring and responsive teachers develop meaningful interactions and relationships with children and their family/whanau.
• Children are encouraged to freely explore, have fun, make discoveries, and extend their interests, strengths and abilities. They develop social skills to work along side others.
• Our exciting music programme promotes children’s learning through music making, singing, dance and drama.

Our children:

• Learn that music can be used in a range of ways
• Have fun and love participating in music making
• Learn to be creative and expressive through music and dance

At Devon Kindergarten:

• We plan visits and visitors
• We recognise the cultural diversity within our community
• We provide a wide range of resources - inside and outside, including computer
• We work supportively with families and our community in planning and decision making
• Teachers engage in sensitive interventions, supporting children and respecting their feelings
